How to add code snippet via Google Tag Manager

The HeadQ code snippet is a small JavaScript snippet that needs to be installed prior to using the store.

Prerequisite

Before you proceed with this article, please ensure that you have installed Google Tag Manager on your website and created your first container for it. You can follow the instructions on how to do this by referring to the Set up and install Tag Manager.

Create the new tag

  1. Click "Tags" on the left-side navigation
  2. Press the "New" button on the right upper-corner

Configure the tag

  1. Name the tag with your naming convention eg. HeadQ tag
  2. Select "Custom HTML" as the tag type
  3. Copy-paste your code snippet from HeadQ admin to the HTML field.
  4. Select "All pages" in the Triggering options.

After these steps, "Save" the changes and submit changes to your site.

Where to find HeadQ code snippet?

You can access HeadQ code snippet through the admin, by clicking the ⚙️ Settings icon from the navigation and then selecting "Installation" from the left hand side navigation.

Note: While this guide shows how to add the script via Google Tag Manager, our recommended method is to install the script directly in your website’s Header or Footer. Many ad blockers can prevent scripts loaded via Tag Manager from running, which may cause HeadQ to not function correctly. Installing the script directly ensures it loads reliably for all users.

HeadQ Cookie: Set as Functional

In addition to installing the script, the HeadQ cookie should be set as a functional cookie. This is because HeadQ is critical to your website’s functionality—without it, key features such as the product configurator, pricing, and purchase flows will not work. Functional cookies are essential for the basic operation of the website and its features, so marking HeadQ’s cookie this way ensures it is not blocked by default privacy settings or consent banners, allowing HeadQ to operate reliably for all users.
