# Registered Products

## Learn how your customers register the products they own in your Storefront, how they find matching parts and documents for them, and how you manage registrations in HeadQ.

Your customers can register the products they own, such as machines, in their Storefront account. Once a product is registered, the customer can go straight from it to the parts that fit that exact product, and to their manuals and documents.

Registered products belong to the customer's company, so everyone on the team sees the same products.

You can manage registrations in two places in HeadQ:

- **Settings → Storefront → Registered products** — all registrations from all companies
- **Contacts → Organizations → \[company\] → Registered products** — one company's registrations

### 1. What Your Customers See

Signed-in customers find their products under **My products** in the Storefront account area.

![my-products](https://support.headq.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20base/my-products.png?width=576&height=270&name=my-products.png)

For each product, the customer sees:

- the product name and code
- the serial number, if one was given
- the status **Registered**
- **Browse parts** — opens a list of parts that fit this product (see section 2)
- **Manuals & documents** — opens the **Resources** page, where the customer finds manuals and other documents. The page shows all documents shared with the company, so it can include documents for other products too. See [Resources](https://support.headq.io/knowledge-base/storefront-resources?hsLang=en).

#### Registering a Product

1. In the Storefront account area, go to **My products**.
2. Click **Register a product**.
3. Click **Select product**, then search for and select the product. Customers can register any product in your Storefront.
4. If they want, they can add the **Serial number (optional)**.
5. Click **Register product**.

The product appears under **My products** right away. You don't need to approve it.

#### Removing a Product or Reporting an Error

The **⋯** menu next to each product has two options:

- **I no longer own this** — removes the product from **My products**, for example when the machine has been sold. In HeadQ, the registration moves to **Retired**.
- **Report incorrect information** — lets the customer tell you that something is wrong, for example the product model. In HeadQ, the registration moves to **Needs correction**.

### 2. Finding Parts for a Registered Product

When the customer clicks **Browse parts**, the Storefront shows only the parts that fit that product, at the customer's own prices. **Back to my products** takes them back to their product list.

![parts-for-registered-product](https://support.headq.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20base/parts-for-registered-product.png?width=256&height=300&name=parts-for-registered-product.png)

This saves the customer from searching through your whole catalog. They can go straight from their machine to the parts that fit it.

**Note:** The parts are matched to the product in the same way as in the spare part search on your Storefront homepage. See [Storefront: Spare Part Search Settings](https://support.headq.io/knowledge-base/storefront-spare-part-search-settings?hsLang=en).

### 3. Managing All Registrations in HeadQ

**Where:** Settings → Storefront → Registered products

This page lists every registered product from all your customer companies.

![registered-products-settings](https://support.headq.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20base/registered-products-settings.png?width=670&height=194&name=registered-products-settings.png)

- **Product / serial** — the product, its code, serial number and registration date
- **Organization** — the company that owns the product
- **Status / reports** — the registration's status
- **Actions** — the **⋯** menu, where you can correct the registration's product or serial number

Use the tabs to show only some of the registrations:

| **Tab** | **What it shows** |
| --- | --- |
| **All products** | Every registration |
| **Registered** | Products that are currently registered |
| **Needs correction** | Products where the customer has reported incorrect information. Check these and correct them. |
| **Retired** | Products the customer no longer owns |

Use **Search products, organizations or serial numbers** to find a registration quickly, and **Refresh** to load the latest registrations.

#### Correcting a Registration

When a customer reports incorrect information, the registration appears under **Needs correction**.

1. Go to the **Needs correction** tab.
2. Click **⋯** next to the registration.
3. Correct the product or the serial number and save.

The registration moves back to **Registered**, and the customer sees the corrected information under **My products**.

**Tip:** Check the **Needs correction** tab regularly. These are customers who have asked you to fix something.

### 4. Registering a Product for a Customer

You can also register a product on behalf of a customer, for example when you deliver a new machine.

**From the Registered products page:**

1. Go to **Settings → Storefront → Registered products**.
2. Click **Register product**. The **Register product** window opens.
3. Select the **Organization** the product belongs to.
4. Select the **Product**.
5. If you know it, add the **Serial number (optional)**.
6. Click **Register product**.

**![register-product-settings-dialog](https://support.headq.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20base/register-product-settings-dialog.png?width=305&height=270&name=register-product-settings-dialog.png)**

**From the company page:**

1. Go to **Contacts → Organizations** and open the company.
2. Go to the **Registered products** tab.
3. Click **Register product**.
4. Select the **Product** and add the **Serial number (optional)**. The company is already selected.
5. Click **Register product**.
   ![org-registered-products-register](https://support.headq.io/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20base/org-registered-products-register.png?width=670&height=195&name=org-registered-products-register.png)

Products you register are confirmed immediately and appear in the customer's **My products** right away.

### Summary

Customers register the products they own under **My products** in the Storefront. Registration is immediate, and the serial number is optional. From each registered product, they can **Browse parts** that fit it and open its **Manuals & documents**. If they no longer own a product, they choose **I no longer own this**, and the registration moves to **Retired**. If something is wrong, they choose **Report incorrect information**, and it moves to **Needs correction**, where you correct it from the **⋯** menu. In HeadQ, you see all registrations under **Settings → Storefront → Registered products**, or one company's registrations on its company page, and you can register products on your customers' behalf.
